Sona is a voice journaling app that helps you reflect by converting spoken thoughts into structured summaries and insights. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information you provide
- Voice recordings: audio you record in the app (if you choose to save audio).
- Transcripts: text created from your recordings.
- AI outputs: summaries, emotion labels, themes, and reflection prompts.
- Account info: email, authentication identifiers, and preferences.
Implementation note: If you do not store audio, update this policy to state “audio is processed and then deleted” (or “not retained”).

- Photos outside of what you explicitly upload (if enabled)
2. How We Use Information
- Provide transcription, summaries, emotion insights, themes, and nudges
- Maintain your account and sync entries across devices
- Improve reliability, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot issues
What we do not do
- No selling of personal data
- No third-party advertising based on your journal content
- No sharing of your entries with other users
3. Security
We use industry-standard security practices including TLS encryption and secure database storage. Your data is protected by authentication and access controls.

No system is perfectly secure. You agree to use the app at your own risk and to keep your device and account credentials secure.
4. Data Storage, Retention, and Deletion
- We retain your entries while your account is active so you can access your history.
- You may delete individual entries inside the app (recommended feature).
- You may request account deletion, which permanently removes your data from our active systems within 30 days (unless legally required to retain some information).
- Backups may persist for up to 90 days before being overwritten.
Apple requirement note: If your app supports account creation, provide an in-app option to delete the account (not only “email support”).
5. Your Rights and Choices
- Access: view your saved entries and AI outputs
- Portability: export your data (Premium feature, if offered)
- Deletion: delete entries or delete your account
- Opt-out: disable non-essential analytics (if enabled)
6. Children’s Privacy
Sona is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. For material changes, we will provide notice in the app or on this page before the change takes effect.

By downloading, accessing, or using Sona (the “App”), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. Description of Service
Sona is a voice journaling app that provides transcription and AI-generated summaries, emotion insights, themes, and reflection prompts to support personal reflection and wellness.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Sona. If you are between 13 and 18 (or the age of majority where you live), you may only use Sona with permission from a parent or legal guardian.
3. Accounts and Subscriptions
3.1 Account
You may need an account to access certain features. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity under your account.
3.2 Plans and pricing
- Free: 3 entries per week, basic insights, transcription
- Premium Monthly: $12.99/month, unlimited entries, advanced AI insights, pattern tracking, reflection questions, export to PDF
- Premium Annual: $79/year, everything in Monthly plus priority support and early access
3.3 Billing, auto-renewal, cancellation
Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Subscriptions can be managed and canceled through your Apple ID or Google Play account settings.
3.4 Refunds
Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their respective policies. We do not directly process refunds for in-app purchases.
4. Acceptable Use
- Do not use the App for unlawful activities
- Do not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or bypass security
- Do not interfere with the App, servers, or other users
- Do not upload content that is harmful, threatening, or abusive
5. Wellness and Mental Health Disclaimer
Sona is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. It is a reflection tool for general wellness purposes only.

6. Intellectual Property
The App, including its design and software, is owned by Sona (or its licensors) and is protected by intellectual property laws. Your journal entries and recordings remain yours, but you grant us a limited license to process them to provide the service.
7. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
The App is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sona will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
8. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of state and federal courts located in San Diego County, California, for disputes arising out of these Terms, except where prohibited by law.
9. Changes to the Service
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the App (or parts of it) at any time. We may also update these Terms. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance.
